Explore the world of Ron Collins.
Ron Collin's truly unique style blends wood carving
and painting into a deeply moving visual experience.
The faces of his subjects are hand-carved from the
tree bark of the massive cottonwoods of Taos, New
Mexico, using only a single-edge razor blade. It is
Ron's belief that by bringing these faces to the
surface of the cottonwood, he frees the spirits of his
slave ancestors that had been absorbed into the trees.
Ron's profound messages are not only revealed in his
art… promoting a doctrine of peace and love, Ron also
speaks publicly on sensitive social issues and has
made speaking appearances at the University of
Houston, Ohio State University, St. Agnes Academy, and
Bellaire High School – just to name a few.
Ron's art has been shown at the Akron Museum of Art,
the University of Houston's Blaffer Gallery, the Folk
Fest art show in Atlanta, Georgia, as well as in many
art galleries across the country.
Discriminating art collectors from all over the world
have added his stunning work to their collections.
Originating in Akron, Ohio, Ron now resides in
Houston, Texas.
