THE MIGHTY FLYERS WITH ROD AND HONEY PIAZZA

We took a break to go see our dear friends Rod and Honey Piazza…yes THAT Rod and Honey MIGHTY FLYERS. We got an email from Honey and assured her we’d be there! (We couldn't go to K-zoo because our store manager Jessie got hitched on Saturday. Jess worked for us for over 12 years!) The Flyers hadn’t been back here in 5 years and it sure was good to see them! And they reassured us they wouldn’t stay away so long! They ONLY live in CALIFORNIA!

They had flown in to Chicago and worked Buddy Guys on Friday, went to Kalamazoo, Michigan on Saturday to headline the Blues Festival there. And then came to MISHWAKA, Indiana at THEIR favorite venue of all to play THE MIDWAY TAVERN

The Midway was packed to overflowing. It was a really hot Sunday night but no one complained! Hey The Flyers were in town!! We chatted with everyone before the show and George had some artwork for everyone. This was the first piece of art for Dave and Henry … immortalizing them on a plaque for their outstanding musical talents and a sign to Rod and Honey naming the band OUR FAVORITE BAND OF THE YEAR AWARD! This isn’t just our opinion, the band has won the blues award many times and Honey the Pinetop Perkins Piano Player of the Year more than once.

We were sorry to see the night end and our friends have to head home. Don’t miss seeing them perform live (that’s in person!) sometime, they will knock your socks off! Honey plays with her feet, Rod stands on tables, Dave throws off his jacket and beats the heck out of those drums and Henry is outstanding on his electric guitar and his vocals are GREAT!

WE PLAY THE MIGHTY FLYER CD’S IN OUR BOOTH IN ATLANTA SETTING UP AND TEARING DOWN!! We enjoy it and so does our neighbors and we might introduce some new folks to the Greatest, Hard Working band out there!
