Possum County Folk Art Gallery

		We exhibited again at the BIG SHOW....the 14tth annual FOLK FEST promoted by our friends Steve and Amy Slotin. In addition to Folk Fest they also hold two folk art auctions annually. Check out their website. This years Folk Fest, as always, was held in the North Atlanta Trade Center - Norcross, GA.. There were over 90 folk art galleries from 20 states and a couple galleries from Canada exhibiting. There were dozens of the top folk artists in attendance. It's always great to see our old artist friends and make new ones.. Here's a few of the pix Sheila took at the show. *Click on images below to enlarge.*

Here I'm presenting our girl friend Amy Slotin...with this years "Welcome sign." Amy and hubby Steve promote a GREAT SHOW...and we all appreciate it and enjoy working with them.	We were honored to have a visit by the Colonel himself. Actually that's Col. Joel Pinkerton a great assemblage artist...he's one of the artists that we represent. Joel is a very talented fellow.....he's also a great musician as well. He plays blues harp in the Hellfish band back home in Louisville.	This is our friends and Folk Fest neighbors Bebo (next to me with his wife Betty Blair and his Dad Fred Daniel of Memphis. In addition to great art Bebo and Fred are great musicinas and have a CD available. We have been bugging them to put out another,	Col Joel w/ Mike Murphy of KCPT TV in Kansas City. Mike, Randy Mason & Don the Camera Guy travel nationwide interview- ing outsider artists and document-ing their art environments. Their exploits are available on public TV, video & DVD's.

Greg & Nash Adkins of Happy Gizzard Holler Folk Art Gallery represents his famous "Granny" woodcarver Minnie Adkins as well as other Kentucky artists. They are about to be the proud parents of TWINS. They don't know what they are in for... I know...I had twins	We met Julia Sisi at a show last year and was pleased to finally meet her husband Dan Casado at this show. They hold the record for coming the farthest...they live in the Canary Islands off the coast of Spain. Both are GREAT artists	The guy with the loud shirt & club is Danny "Hoss" Hoskinson aka "Bucketman" His sculptures are all created from melted plastic buckets. Check his website...but, the pictures don't do justice to his actual work. Someday we hope to own some of his work in our private collection.	Dr. Elayne Goodman. That's right..."DOCTOR". This spring she received a "Doctor of Fine Arts" degree from the University of Mississippi. In her artwork she has made more dots than anyone...I think she should be called the "Doctor of DOT-ology"

Her's my friend Beth Gumnick of Tennessee. We have several pieces of her art in our collection.. and love them.....and her too!	I must be saying something funny...look at the expression on the face of Kimberly Dawn Clayton of South Carolina. We love her too!	My good friend musician and artist Ab the Flag Man stopped by to look over my Jimi Hendrix Guitar Shadow Box.	Sheila seems to have caught "MOJO" (Morris Johnson) off guard...but It's not unusual to catch me with my big mouth open.

Our friend Ruby Williams will paint on anything..and she uses every opportunity to witness for the Lord...check this out!	New Possum County artist Reba Campbell. We'll have a page of her artwork for sale on this website SOON!	Grace Kelly Laster and the head of the family...Miss Ruby Elvis Rose Laster. Mike was around somewhere!	Smithsonian artist Missionary Mary Proctor and husband Tyrone. She was paintin' an' sellin' like crazy....as always!

Jimmy W and daughter Jamie in their very attractive booth. We're happy to have his art in our collection. Great folks!	Georgia artist C. W. Conner does mainly early Southern Livestyle Paintings. We love his work!	W.D Hardin (Hellhound) with his friend (and ours) Megan stopped by for a visit. We're always glad to see them!	Deb, Granny, Evan and Poppa. These folks are from Canada. Their first time at the show.

You run into all kinds at Folk Fest...here's our friend Jim Straehla....aka Bottle Cap Man. Maybe they call him that because he drives a pick-em-up truck with over 10,000 bottle caps attached. Check out his web site..........He paints good but dresses funny!

There was a Silent Auction at Folk Fest this year. Most of the artists and galleries on hand at the show donated original artwork to be sold to the highest bidder with ALL the proceeds going to the fund to SAVE THE CHAPEL at HOWARD FINSTER'S PARADISE GARDENS. The non-profit organization responsible for the gardens is headed by Rev Tommy Littleton. This is Tommy and wife Dr Karen, a member of the board of directors. . Here's the two pieces the we donated to the auction.



		This year there were over 90 different galleries exhibiting at Slotin's Folk Fest. Here's a few pix of the booths. The show is always loaded with GREAT ARTWORK! Next year be sure to attend the show...you won't be disappointed!
