We’d like to welcome The Appalachian Folk Artist, Mike Creech to Possum County™ Folk Art Gallery and introduce you to some of his great work. Mike’s art is so much FUN! He pours his heart and talent into it.....and it shows.
Mike is from Lexington, Kentucky. He was influenced by such great artists as Peter Max (early 70’s poster art) , George Barris (custom car designer) and Ed "Big Daddy" Roth (“Rat Fink” creator). Mike has tried several different styles of artwork but came back to his present style because of the earlier influences.
When I first saw his work, of course I was drawn to the possums. But it is just fun to look at. It makes you smile. It makes you look for the subtle applied humor.
Besides creating art, Mike is also a photographer. He owns his own gallery. Loves to play pool. He's a car enthusiast and a gourmet chef of an award winning café.
Mike is also a musician known as Mike “Shakin’ It” Creech…The Tambourine Man. He lends harmony and background vocals on blues, honky tonk, country and good Ol’ Rock n’ Roll.
We'll be adding more of Mike's work as time goes by.
