George (Murob) and I came in contact with Otto Schneider about 2-3 years ago. He is from the Chicago area and is a very reclusive guy. He has no phone so we can't contact him, he contacts us when he has some art to sell and we meet him at a fast food restaurant somewhere he chooses. We don't have a picture of him, he will not let us take pictures. It's very "hit and miss" when he will have something for us. He usually has about a dozen pieces to sell us each time we meet. I don't know if he's "down and out" or just a "penny pincher" and has all the money he needs to get by. I don't believe he's ever been institutioalized, he just stays to himself. He does a lot of Chicago themes and lives in a rough area...he sometimes does drawings of street gangs and hold-ups. He's just a really strange guy but....I LOVE HIS ART, and we have several pieces in our home. |
