POPS CASEY Chicago IL Casey Lewandowski AKA: “POPS CASEY” is from Chicago, Illinois. He is a true outsider. He is totally self-taught. In his early years "Pops" Casey was interested in black & white photography. He'd take pictures and then create art from those pictures. Later he was a carpenter by profession. He learned the strength and limitations of wood. Because he was around wood so much he became interested in antiques, learning more and more about their beauty, history and the art of their craftsmanship. This peaked his interest into what he could create from wood. He blended his three skills together: His artist eye through the camera, his mastery of wood skills and is love of old things, which led him to his “Tramp Art Style of Folk Art.” Creating lamps, shelves, picture frames, boxes and dressers. Pop Casey’s works are one of a kind. He draws his ideas from our country’s past....his life’s experiences...his family...culture and religious traditions. Pops Casey is an artist that you will want to get to know and start collecting his works. He is an exhibiting artist with Possum County Folk Art Gallery at Slotin’s Folk Fest held each August in Atlanta, Ga. |
